If you’re running Facebook Lead Ads and your GoHighLevel CRM looks like it’s cloning contacts, you’re not imagining it. Facebook Lead Forms do not always send a clean email or phone number. So GHL cannot always match the lead to the right record, and it creates a new contact instead. That’s how duplicates start. 😤
The latest update makes Facebook contact merge way more useful. Before, merging by name applied to Facebook Messenger conversations only. Now GoHighLevel also supports name matching for Facebook Lead Form submissions. That means fewer duplicate records when leads come in with limited info. ✅
The best part is control. GoHighLevel split this into two separate settings:
- One merge option for Messenger contacts
- One merge option for Lead Form submissions
So you can turn on Lead Form merging without changing how Messenger behaves. Clean and predictable.
How to use it: Go into your sub-account Settings > Business Profile > General, then enable the Lead Form merge option. After that, submit a test Lead Form with a name that already exists in your contacts. Confirm it merges into the existing contact instead of creating a new one.
Quick warning: name matching can merge the wrong people if you deal with lots of common names. If your niche has a ton of “John Smith” situations, test in one sub-account first before enabling it everywhere.
Bottom line: fewer duplicates means cleaner follow-up, better reporting, and less time wasted searching for the “right” contact. 🚀
Have you turned on the Lead Form merge setting yet, or are you testing it on one client first?
