Introduction
Hi everyone from Italy! I’d love to know more about training young horses, horsemanship and building a true connection with my 4 yo stallion❤️ He’s always been super nice and very easy going, with a nice attitude to working. Things changed a couple of sessions ago, when he started displaying unusual behaviours: bucking when asked to canter with ears flat as soon as I gently pressed with my legs. He’s a stallion, 4 years of age and I started him under saddle in September. He has access to a paddock during daytime and I ride him 3 times a week. The other days i lounge him or simply let him enjoy some time outside
More ground work today... short sharp learning
Little one did brilliant today... see video to follow🩵💫💫💫 Really pleased and next session will be doing both sides!!! I have purchased a new head collar as his head so small I know I am fully touching his pressure points so hope the new ones fit better ☺️🐴🙏🏻🤠
Loving the video learning 🫶
@Zoë Coade Really enjoying the video learning! Making lots of notes, planning my co- produced goals with my youngster and ready for practicing some of Zoë's easy to follow guides🐴 Will update you all over the weekend when I have done some with my little one ☺️🐴🫶
Timing it right to start my youngster🐴
I have had my rescue pony "Storm" for 2 years ( 3 in june) He was nearly 3 years old when I found him. I knew he was a mountain moorland and had been taken away from his mum aged 4 months then goodness knows what his early journey had been??? He knew nothing.... no mare manners had been taught to him. He initially bit me, reared up and was afraid of every surrounding I tried. For the past nearly 3 years I decided to build his trust... slowly helping him realise I was his mare, I would teach him, I would lead him- as his passive leader. The vet initially checked him out and his DNA is Fell. That helped me learn about his breed/personality ( kind and keen to please) I am a self taught horsewoman, calling myself a novice as I am always learning.... but my day job is supporting autistic, deaf and often complex people live their life. I use my intuition, communication skills and sign language to help build his trust by grooming, observing his body language, listening to him but ultimately allowing him time to grow, both in body and mind. 🐴 He is now ready to listen, learn and develop our relationship to co- produce our learning together. Our goals are just the start for 2026 and with the help from Zoë and our community, I feel privileged to know you are all by our side 🐴🩵
