I have had my rescue pony "Storm" for 2 years ( 3 in june) He was nearly 3 years old when I found him. I knew he was a mountain moorland and had been taken away from his mum aged 4 months then goodness knows what his early journey had been??? He knew nothing.... no mare manners had been taught to him. He initially bit me, reared up and was afraid of every surrounding I tried.
For the past nearly 3 years I decided to build his trust... slowly helping him realise I was his mare, I would teach him, I would lead him- as his passive leader. The vet initially checked him out and his DNA is Fell. That helped me learn about his breed/personality ( kind and keen to please) I am a self taught horsewoman, calling myself a novice as I am always learning.... but my day job is supporting autistic, deaf and often complex people live their life. I use my intuition, communication skills and sign language to help build his trust by grooming, observing his body language, listening to him but ultimately allowing him time to grow, both in body and mind. 🐴 He is now ready to listen, learn and develop our relationship to co- produce our learning together.
Our goals are just the start for 2026 and with the help from Zoë and our community, I feel privileged to know you are all by our side 🐴🩵
