LIVE - Modelling + Open Q&A is happening in 18 days
What happened last week 01/02
Well the end of the "summer break" has come around quickly, with my kids both back at school and today I've flown over to Hong Kong then driven through to Shenzhen for work this week. It's my 5th trip to China for work, but first since 2019 and with first with Quad Lock. If you have any questions for what a Design Engineer does when visiting suppliers here, let me know! If you missed it, earlier this week I ran a livestream reviewing a series of 1v1 SolidWorks speed modelling matchups from Too Tall Toby's recent tournament. It's great to learn from others - give it a watch or skip through to specific sections. Once back from my trip and into a "normal" routine, I'll be pushing to get some of the promised videos edited and published. If you have questions or ideas for other content, I'd love to hear. Have a great week

What I did this week 18/01/2026
Officially on holidays today (for a week+) but that’s no excuse not to keep up with updates. Highlight this week was a live stream on SolidWorks Appearances! Thanks to those from here that joined or viewed afterwards. There were a couple of niche situations that I didn’t cover, which I will record and edit together with the original stream. I’ve also scheduled a new DIY Project video this week, which I’ll share here once it’s live. Hope you enjoy Have a great week all
What I did this week 11/01/26
For the last 2.5 years, every Sunday evening, I've spent 15 minutes reviewing my week's Side Projects and the occasional milestone. I would capture Completed, Outstanding and Future tasks, as well as a number of metrics for items I was choosing to pursue. I do this in a Notion database. I think there may be a benefit in sharing these as part of the "Behind the Scenes" of this Skool Community and my design side projects. In 2026, I'm going to post those same reviews here. I may have to omit confidential client-related items, but otherwise I'll be as transparent as can be. If you see anything of interest, I'd be happy to expand further. I would highly recommend that everyone have their own personal review system and cadence, whether that be weekly or otherwise. Let me know what you think!

Fully Defined Roadmap
Hi all, I mentioned this in November, and now it's ready to publish. The Fully Defined Roadmap for the next 24 months. It's just a plan, and maybe not that exciting for everyone... but I like to have an idea of where I'm going with things, and this side project is worth that effort. I've captured the high-level plans in the link above. If you have feedback, let me know! The first thing I'll get up and running is the regular live stream format. Keep an eye on the calendar and community notifications. Catch you all soon, Chris
