What happened last week 01/02
Well the end of the "summer break" has come around quickly, with my kids both back at school and today I've flown over to Hong Kong then driven through to Shenzhen for work this week. It's my 5th trip to China for work, but first since 2019 and with first with Quad Lock. If you have any questions for what a Design Engineer does when visiting suppliers here, let me know! If you missed it, earlier this week I ran a livestream reviewing a series of 1v1 SolidWorks speed modelling matchups from Too Tall Toby's recent tournament. It's great to learn from others - give it a watch or skip through to specific sections. Once back from my trip and into a "normal" routine, I'll be pushing to get some of the promised videos edited and published. If you have questions or ideas for other content, I'd love to hear. Have a great week

Latest DIY Series Video
In this video, I’ll show you how I used SolidWorks, a 3D printer, and some basic DIY skills to clean up my home-network setup in my garage. The goal was simple: make the area neater, reduce cable clutter, and retain access to power points and equipment when needed. 🏫 What you’ll see through the video 🔹 assessing the existing mess of components 🔹 setting up a rough SolidWorks layout using a sketch and reference images 🔹 using decals to quickly approximate port/LED positions 🔹 printing prototypes to check fit before committing to a bigger print 🔹 iterating the mounting approach 🔹 final prints, cleanup, install, and the end result This is practical, “get it done” modelling — not a perfection exercise. 🔩 Designed in SolidWorks 2023 🖨️ Printed on a BambuLab P1S Thanks to those that view/like/comment on YouTube - it helps grow the audience!
