How to land the db97531
Hey all, Coach Matt here. About two months ago I landed my first DB97531.
Most people are not at the level where they can train the drills that lead directly to that trick yet. It takes years of consistent juggling to reach that point. So here are the progressions you can work through with fewer balls that eventually build toward it.
Where to start as a beginner (Progression chain #1):
3 ball high throw → 3 ball 531 → 4 ball 534 → 4 ball 75 → 4 ball 7441 → 4 ball 7531
Intermediate progressions (Progression chain #2):
3 ball → 97500 with leg taps → 4 ball 7531 → 4 ball 97530 → 5 ball 753
Advanced progressions (Progression chain #3):
97500 with pirouette → 5 ball 753 → 5 ball 97531 dominant hand → 5 ball 97531 non dominant hand → 5 ball 97522 3up360 → 5 ball 97531 continuous → 5 ball b972222 3up720
Expert progressions (Progression chain #4):
b972222 3up720 → b975300 5up360 → 6 ball b97522 → b97531 dominant side → b97531 non dominant side
7 ball preparation (Progression chain #5):
4 up multiplex → 966 → B6666 → 5 up 360s → opposite hand 5 up 360s → D666666 → DB97522 → DB97531 to collect → DB97531 back to pattern
The main cues that helped me were pairing the DB with the 9,7 and 5,3, throwing the 5 high before the first throw, and starting from the non dominant side. Using both cues together made it much easier to get the B high enough and stabilize the pattern.
Finally, here are all the progressions linked in one chain below for easier reading... This is literally worth YEARS of training and I'm giving it away for FREE in this community. If you care about leveling up your juggling, stay tuned for more gold dust.
Full Progression Chain:
3 ball high throw → 3 ball 531 → 4 ball 534 → 4 ball 75 → 4 ball 7441 → 4 ball 7531 → 97500 with leg taps → 97500 with pirouette → 4 ball 97530 → 5 ball 753 → 5 ball 97531 (dominant) → 5 ball 97531 (non dominant) → 5 ball 97522 3up360 → 5 ball 97531 continuous → 5 ball b972222 3up720 → b975300 5up360 → 6 ball b97522 → b97531 (dominant) → b97531 (non dominant) → 4 up multiplex → 966 → B6666 → 5 up 360s → opposite hand 5 up 360s → D666666 → DB97522 → DB97531 to collect → DB97531 back to pattern
