Today is Memorial Day
I think it’s important to pause and recognize that this day is above all about sacrifice.
About people who gave something of themselves so others could have opportunities and freedoms they may never personally experience. Many of us have family members, friends, or people we care about who served in the armed forces in some way.
And whether directly or indirectly, many of us have also experienced sacrifice in our own lives.
Especially by this stage of life. We’ve loved people. Lost people. Started over. Held families together. Carried responsibilities no one else fully saw.
Life teaches you that strength is rarely loud.
Sometimes strength looks like rebuilding after divorce.
Learning how to be alone again.
Opening your heart after disappointment.
Showing up for others while quietly carrying your own uncertainty.
One thing I’ve come to appreciate more as I’ve gotten older is that none of us are really meant to do life completely alone. We all need people in our lives.
People who help us see blind spots.
Who offer perspective.
Who encourage us when life gets hard.
Who understand that reinvention is possible at any age.
That’s part of what makes communities like this meaningful.
Not just dating. Not just socializing.
But realizing there are still good people out there walking through similar chapters of life with courage, humor, wisdom, and hope.
So today, along with gratitude for those who served and sacrificed…
I hope you also reflect on: Who has helped carry you through difficult seasons?
And who might need your encouragement right now?
Because none of us get where we’re going completely alone.
Grateful today. 🇺🇸
