Ever feel like you are wandering in a wilderness and need some direction? ποΈβ¨
This weekβs reading, Behaβalotcha (which literally translates to "when you ascend"), offers some incredibly powerful lessons for our own life journeys.
Here are a few key takeaways from the portion:
π Step up and bring light: The portion begins with the instruction for Aaron to step up and arrange the seven lamps on the hammered-gold menorah so they give light.
βοΈ Trust the timing of your journey: The Israelites didn't rely on their own navigation through the desert. They moved exactly when the divine cloud lifted from the tabernacle, and they camped wherever the cloud settled. Whether it rested for two days, a month, or longer, they patiently kept their charge and waited for the command to set out.
π€ Share the heavy burdens: When Moses became incredibly overwhelmed and frustrated by the people's complaints, he cried out that the burden was too heavy to carry alone. The response? Seventy elders were appointed to stand with him, and the Spirit was placed upon them so they could share the load. We aren't meant to carry everything by ourselves!
ποΈ Rely on the Spirit: As the prophet Zechariah reminds us in the accompanying reading, true success and breakthrough come "Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit".
What is one area of your life where you need to "step up" to bring light, or perhaps find others to help share a heavy burden this week? Let me know in the comments below! π
