But since I’m starting my list from the ground up, along with my business, a lot of the opportunities feel above my level right now. How did you start growing your list when you were first starting out? What strategies do you wish you would have done sooner?

I noticed the recommendation to use a custom domain to improve email deliverability. However, my previous experience has been the opposite. Emails sent from my Gmail address have had better deliverability than emails sent from my custom domain. Messages from my custom domain end up in the spam folder. What might I be missing here? Is there something specific that needs to be set up correctly for a custom domain to perform better? Thank you!

I was recently advised to identify the people on my email list that haven't opened an email in 90 days or more and create a re-engagement series to see if I can get them back. If not then remove them from my list. (This is in an effort to get my open rate up, although its not really that bad, and make my emails more google search friendly...apparently the open rate matters to google too.) What are the thoughts on this? And if this is something worth doing how many emails do I send, in what time frame and what is the tone of the emails? TAI
