What system, with respect to consequences, helps keep you or your program on course?
So, I've been revamping my coaching philosophy as of late and one thing that is potentially controversial is a "Consequence Template". Half is very generic and geared more towards practice. The other half is game situational. Originally, the game situational side was significantly different as the consequences for redirection, aside from the inherent persona "time outs", were not immediate. Meaning the player would squirrel and sneak around to forego the consequence.
Part of me was thinking of including some sort of "exercises" on the sideline, but I'm second guessing it for 1) gassing kids out, and 2) someone being mad that I'm belittling their kid, or someon elses kid, in public on the sideline.
I want to be able to have my own system(s) that will help get the job done with respect to accountability, but do so in a way that the kids will not be afraid to try and/or make mistakes. Any advice on things that work for you? I know everything is relative to the region and the associate population dynamics, but there's got to be some sort of fundamental component(s) I'm not grasping or thinking about right now.
Thanks in advance!
