DM Annoyance - Any way to improve?
Hey, Skool team. Recently, I have been getting a lot of pitch DMs from random people in different Skool groups. It feels like some people are joining groups only to prospect. Feels like the old days of messaging people en masse on Facebook, or the BS that happens on LinkedIn daily.
I know you can set the DM/Chat ability in settings for each group, but, the simple on-or-off, while simple, is flawed and would not stop this from happening.
As I look at the profiles, I see names that are different from the URL name, no bio or links to a site that validates them, and usually, they have ZERO community interactions. No likes, comments, or conversations started. They are just here prospecting and pitching.
Could there be a way to:
  1. Do Not allow anyone to DM unless they do certain things? Have X interactions, or maybe at least achieved level 1 or two?
  2. Could there be a prompt at the start of a 1:1 chat that states something along the lines of "we are all here to learn from one another, please do not pitch or annoy other members" or have this customizable by the Skool owner?
  3. Additional profile settings where I could say I am open to DMs, but have it tied to an unlock, similar as I mentioned above, and how current course unlocks happen based on activity?
I freaking LOVE Skool, but I am growing tired of solicitation, especially from people who have yet to provide any value within a group. Sure, I can block them. But I think with a few safeguards, and Skool group rules, this could be nipped in the bud (in theory).
Maybe some folks here have some other suggestions on how we could prevent this?
As Hellboy says, Stop it. Just Stop it! πŸ˜€
