watching fighters
today in sparring i tried to copy some setups and combos i learned from watching k1 fighter takumi terada, and a lot of it worked. i dont know why i havent tried this sooner, i watch a lot of ufc but not a lot of pure kickboxing, when i watch pure kickboxing im able to pick up on so much shit. im excited to watch takeru vs rodtang this weekend n hopefully pick up on some stuff, does anyone have any other favorite fighters to study? coaches alr told me to watch ramon dekkers, dany bill, n lerdsila

Hey guys, So I created new categories for the sake of organization, you guys should be able to see them at the top of the page. This way we can categorize the posts better and now everyone can kind of navigate easier if they’re looking for something specific. Hope you guys like them!

How’s everyone’s sparring doing?
I realized that I haven’t said it so far but I encourage you guys to share how your sessions are going, progress, insights, etc.. It doesn’t have to look like mine in any way, and it doesn’t have to be a lot either Feel free to share your thoughts however you prefer!
Gym Wars Tomorrow!
Tomorrow's going to be an exciting sparring session! There's a gym coming to ours for sparring. They're all guys I don't know anything about other than that they are all strikers, which is great for me because I'm predominantly a striker and that's what I compete in. It's going to be good for me to go against strikers that I don't know. That element of unpredictability that I don't get too often from my teammates, due to me training with them for so long, is something that's going to help get me ready for my next fight and it couldn't have come at a better time. I'm two weeks away from my fight and this will be my third to last sparring session, so this gives me a chance to experience unpredictability close to my fight yet still allow me time to maybe refine or tweak some things before I get in the ring! I still haven't given too much thought about what I'm going to be focusing on tomorrow but I'm sure one of my top focuses is going to be defense since this is something I've been evolving for a while now that has been working amazingly well for me. I'm super excited for tomorrow and I can't wait to share how it goes. I'll check in with you guys tomorrow and let you know what went down.

First Post
Hey everyone, I just finished sparring a couple of hours ago and I'm happy to be able to share how my session went today as a first post. Before I share how my session went today, I'd like to introduce you to myself: Name: Noureddin Sport: K1 rules kickboxing Fight weight: 135 lbs Height: 5'6" So the format for my insights is usually as follows: what I did well, what could improve, and sometimes notes which are usually strategies against a specific type of opponent or something that clicked for me during the session, along with my energy levels so I can be fair to myself whenever I look back. This is my personal structure but, of course, you're all welcome to organize your thoughts/insights however you please. The following is today's session: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02.27.2025.THU ----------------------------- Energy: 6/10 ----------------------------- What I did well: Double jabs feint jab, jab Staying active by poking Counterstrike~~ Volume~ Defense~ Pro-defense~~ Pressure Establishing pace Rhythm Mixing kicks w/punches Interrupting movement~~ Stiff jab behind bridge Closing distance using bridge~ Sneaky snap kicks under jab Answering back immediately Crab switch stance --------------------------------------------------------------------- What could improve: Throwing combos Tighter defense Tighter boxing Head off centerline Chin down*** Angle change during combo In and out movement Using feints Form Chin shoulder shield Breathing*** Managing distance Finding cross Finding liver kick Pressure after crab switch kick Baiting Standing ground (Round with X) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: Focus on realizing when to press the gas and when to brake when mixing explosiveness with volume ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
