My name is Stephen Telles. I am from Garden Grove, CA. I am a software engineer and I have experience working with Python 🐍 since early 2021. Over that time I’ve worked
- Enhancing and maintaining data pipelines 🧑🔧 at a biotech company,
- designing custom UI and data processing workflows for x-ray 🩻 inspection software to match the unique needs of dozens of customers at a small business. While there, I also had the opportunity to build a VSCode extension using NodeJS
- Data modeling and deployment for a cloud-based ☁️ IoT web app used by data scientists at Amazon
The Amazon role was a contract and our managers, despite their best efforts, weren’t able to get the budget approved by higher-level decision makers when the contingent team members’ contracts came up for renewal, including myself.
One struggle:
Throughout this time, I have had an interest in front end dev and web dev in general. So far my roles haven’t had many opportunities to leverage these skills and help me to grow them, and many of the jobs out there assume experience should fall into backend or frontend, whereas mine has mainly been using Python for data processing in other contexts.
Special passions and interests within software:
- Development tools such as IDEs, Claude Code, and other forms of automation like bash/powershell scripting
- I’m also interested in helping build Educational coding platforms like Codecademy and freeCodeCamp (this is open source so I may try to contribute to their codebase when I have time)
