Reflect: Meet One Goal at a Time
Take a minute, reflect, and decide which single goal you’re optimizing for during this process: pay, location, lack of competition, or ease of interview. Write out what decisions you’ll make in your job search that reflect that priority. Keep it short and clear (2–3 bullet points).

Im job searching post layoff, so Im absolutely in the "get hired fast" camp. Like the post suggested, I'll focus on smaller/less competitive and non tech focused companies in other industries. Ive been trying to cast a wide net of remote roles as well as ones in Austin, (where I am now), SF (grew up near there), Seattle (interested in moving there), or NY (lots of opportunity, never been). Open to relocating if necessary but Im still new to Austin so id prefer to stay local or remote if I have the option to chose.

@Nate Hobi i don’t seem to have access to that lesson yet, but so far my thoughts are generally positive on it
Respond: Post Your Unique Summary Here
This is where it starts — your professional story, distilled into a few powerful lines. Your summary isn’t about listing tools. I’s about communicating your value, perspective, and unique lens on the work you do. In your comment below, include: - Your specialty — what you do best - Your top affinity — who you connect with naturally (ex. educators, nonprofits, open-source, etc.) - Your previous industry or current vertical (if applicable) — where you’ve built or what you’ve transitioned from Example: Backend developer who thrives in early-stage environments and messy codebases. I’ve worked mostly in FinTech, focusing on API reliability and transaction safety. Former financial analyst — I bring a systems mindset to engineering.

Software engineer with a hybrid background in fullstack development and DevOps automation. I bring a user focused mindset from my previous career in healthcare and customer service into building reliable systems, smooth developer workflows, and user-friendly features.
Reflect: Embody Confidence
Which of the confidence pillars feels strongest for you right now? Which one do you want to strengthen next — and what’s one concrete action you can take this week to do it?

I think Im strongest in the Value First framing pillar (though it could still use some work to refine) and weakest in the Networking and Specialization pillars. I think Networking would be best to work on next, and continuing to schedule more coffee chats and connect with others with shared affinities is a solid step forward this week to strengthen that pillar.
Reflect: Volunteer Strategically
What nonprofit platform could you realistically volunteer for this month, and what specific role or outcome would you aim to highlight on your résumé afterward? What kind of project would most strengthen your credibility right now?

I applied to join TechFleet and CodeShelter, specifically aiming for the outcome of having more recent items to put on my resume. Id like to expand the open source section of my resume with some recent impacts/contributions, and Im hoping to gain some fresh talking point worthy experiences to use for the "tell me about a time when..." type questions. Credibility wise Id argue the teamwork setting of TechFleet might be the strongest/most impactful project, because its been a while since ive worked within a group and had consistent collaboration.
Reflect: Collaborate
Share which opportunities you applied to and why you chose them. Remember: As things progress — interview invites, team placements, project milestones — add updates as comments under your original post so others can follow your progress and learn from your process.

Ive looked through the opportunities and have applied to join TechFleet and CodeShelter. I chose TechFleet because I like the idea of getting more team project experience, and CodeShelter to get more open source contributions in on my own time. Looking forward to jumping in!
