Hey all... I'm happy to report that I landed an engineering role. Most of my success getting through to recruiters came through referrals of former co-workers, so I didn't really get to build up those networking skills in the ways that I would have ideally. But I plan to keep that up as I go along, so that I'm ready for the next time. Some things I found helpful in this last interview loop: - I used Claude to talk about everything I was doing - Before this coding screen, I asked the recruiter for more information to establish whether it was more "practical" or "Leetcode-style" and she confirmed it was "practical with elements of DSA." So I used that with Claude to generate potential problems that the company might ask, which helped me practice potentially tricky language-specific things like working with timestamps. - I used HelloInterview to learn and practice System Design. I also booked a mock interview through them and it was the most helpful by far. Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions, and best of luck to everyone! https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-edward-royall-iii/

Congratulations! I hope the new role is going well for you.
Two interviews lined up, both technical rounds
1. An established, public company - 90 minutes with 20 minutes for team fit and the rest for programming. No idea if it is DSA or some implementation style questions. 2. An AI scale-up (Multi Billion Valuation, practically a corporation) - 45 minutes for programming (Python). According to the recruiter, the team said that they don't necessarily give any advise on preparation because the team believes that causes candidates to overthink during the interview. He didn't specifically say as to whether it will be DSA but did mention that if he had to guess, the difficulty level may be leetcode medium. Any feedback on how to prepare will be much appreciated, I really need to land one of these two.

How did it go? Or are you still preparing?

@Yash J thanks for the insights, that’s great on the first one you at least knew you did everything right on your end. Sorry to hear it didn’t result in an offer. I haven’t found the need for generators so far in my time using Python. Since they’re showing up interviews, I should probably study up on them too.
Hello Insiders! 👋🏽
My name is Darec and I am originally from Germany, now living in Florida. I consider myself to be proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - especially CSS. I love making things look nice. My greatest hurdles at the moment are DSAs and frontend libraries. I need to get better with React, Vue, and/or Angular, as these seem to be at the forefront of roles in my chosen field of Web Development. My portfolio website at http://darecmcdaniel.info

Hey Darec, I’m curious, any specific resources you would recommend for getting better at css?
Hello everyone 👋
My name is Stephen Telles. I am from Garden Grove, CA. I am a software engineer and I have experience working with Python 🐍 since early 2021. Over that time I’ve worked - Enhancing and maintaining data pipelines 🧑‍🔧 at a biotech company, - designing custom UI and data processing workflows for x-ray 🩻 inspection software to match the unique needs of dozens of customers at a small business. While there, I also had the opportunity to build a VSCode extension using NodeJS - Data modeling and deployment for a cloud-based ☁️ IoT web app used by data scientists at Amazon The Amazon role was a contract and our managers, despite their best efforts, weren’t able to get the budget approved by higher-level decision makers when the contingent team members’ contracts came up for renewal, including myself. One struggle: Throughout this time, I have had an interest in front end dev and web dev in general. So far my roles haven’t had many opportunities to leverage these skills and help me to grow them, and many of the jobs out there assume experience should fall into backend or frontend, whereas mine has mainly been using Python for data processing in other contexts. Special passions and interests within software: - Development tools such as IDEs, Claude Code, and other forms of automation like bash/powershell scripting - I’m also interested in helping build Educational coding platforms like Codecademy and freeCodeCamp (this is open source so I may try to contribute to their codebase when I have time)

@Anna Miller thanks! I honestly would be just as happy if I ended up working in a data science team (analytics engineer, data analyst, data scientist, etc). I guess I’m a “generalist” in the sense that I’m curious and interested in a lot of things. Like you’re saying, it would probably be best to just pick a direction and build projects that demonstrate skills in that area, whether that’s web dev or data science.
Hi, I'm Seema 👋
🌍 I'm currently living in Fullerton, Orange County, CA 🚀 I’m a software QA professional with over 18 years of experience and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. I have a mixed skill-sets of both functional and non-functional testing along with leadership. ⌛ I was impacted by a layoff recently and have been doing job hunting. I am also learning tools and technologies currently used for automation like playwright. Because of current visa situations, I really want to land on a job as soon as possible. If you have any advise for me to get more interviews, I'd love to learn more.
