I made a neck warmer about the length of a toque. I folded it in half and brought the two sides together. I left an opening for a drawstring and also made a cord loop with a few stitches. This neck warmer becomes a toque, a toque for a ponytail, and a regular toque once the drawstring is fully closed.

Baby's Poncho Pattern 3 to 6 months
I was writing this pattern out to hand knit but it's just a couple of panels so I thought I might be able to make it on the machine with a few adjustments....anyone like to give it a try? Needs finishing off by hand. Baby’s Poncho To fit 3 to 6 months Using 46 or 48 pin machine PONCHO PANEL (make 4 pieces the same, working bottom to top): Cast on with WY Knit a few rows then change to main colour and continue for 43 rows Mark both ends of row 43 (panel measures approx 7.8 ins from beg). Continue to total 110 rows (18.3 ins from beg). Change to WY and knit a few fows then Cast off. CONSTRUCT THE PONCHO: Place tubes flat on a table or floor. Join two tubes with mattress stitch so you will have two pieces. Bottom of piece#1 towards you. Move piece #2 perpendicular to #1, so that the top of #2 abuts the right side of #1, between the bottom and the marker. Mattress stitch the piece together along this seam. Then, folding the pieces, abut the top of #1 to the right edge of #2 (bottom towards you), between the bottom and the marker. Mattress stitch the piece together along this seam as well. NECK BAND: Using size 4mm needles work a 5 row Rib border around the neckline of the poncho. This is best worked by picking up sts around the neck and working a few rows. Rib will help pull in the neckline a bit. If the neckline is very loose, consider working a folded band and inserting a draw string. BORDER: Using size 4.5 mm needles work 5 row Rib border around the bottom of the poncho by picking up and knitting each stitch from the edges. FRINGE: Fringes are not recommended for small children as the threads may work loose and could choke a child FINISHING: Sew in all loose ends. BLOCK. Really, it makes all the difference.
