Step 6: Taking a Breath
Caribe Nation, We are a few days away from releasing new content on how to breathe during the pull down stroke. Before we do, I want to hear from you: What is the biggest struggle you face with breathing? One of the most common mistakes I see my new students making is breathing too late in their pull... See 1st attachment We want to begin our breath as soon as our arms begin pulling See 2nd attachment This small adjustment can make the difference between breathing and not breathing! Good luck and share below! BIG Love, Coach Jeff

Freestyle Breathing
Hello! And Happy New Year! I am stumped. I can't figure out this breathing situation. Everytime I go out for air, I catch water in my mouth. Which for some reason disturbs my momentum, and I find myself trying to spit out the water mid-strokes before the next air intake. In all videos I have watched it looks like the swimmer also catches water, but doesn't affect them? or they just don't catch water at all? (I don't know how, because the mouth is literally half-in and half-out of the water). Any ideas how to overcome this? Any drills recommendation? 😅
Unassisted Front Float
Hi! I've been taking swimming lessons for some time now. I'm able to front float with the assistance of a noodle or my instructor. I want to progress to unassisted front floating. But, I'm not able to "start off". I know I'll float & won't sink & the instructor is there. But, I still stumble (like trying to save myself from falling over) everytime i try without a noodle. I don't understand why that's happening. I can float unassisted (like when the noodle is taken away while I float). Its the start-off/getting into the floating position, I'm struggling with. I've tried the relaxation & breathing technique before the lesson. What else can I try, please?
