The Scary Truth About The Swim Industry
Caribe Nation, Have you taken swim lessons that looked like this? • 30 minutes • 8–12 adults • 1 teenage instructor (trying their best) • No real curriculum And somehow you left feeling like you were the problem? You weren’t. The system was. I know — because I owned and operated a swim school for 12 years. Here’s the hard truth: Swim schools are built for kids, not adults. Kids are the business model. Adults are an afterthought. So adults get dropped into programs designed for competition swimmers. It looks something like this: Start with strokes. Add breathing. Hope it works. But adults don’t need strokes first. They need to develop a foundation first. Because you can’t learn to move until you can breathe. You can’t breathe until you can float. And you can’t float until you feel relaxed. So the order has to flip. Like this: Comfort → Floating → Propulsion → Breathing → Freestyle Foundation first. Confidence second. Skills last. This isn’t theory. It’s the system I’ve refined for 12+ years — and the one we use at every retreat. You can see it in action here: 👉 Watch the retreat video If you’ve tried before and felt stuck, you’re not behind. You were just taught in the wrong order. We have 4 transformational retreats coming up in San Juan: • March 30 – April 5 • June 1 – 7 • July 6 – 12 • August 3 – 9 If you’re ready to finally learn the right way: 👉 Complete the application And yes — I back it with a learn-to-swim guarantee. Let’s do this together. BIG Love, Coach Jeff

New Video Idea: Feedback Wanted
Caribe Nation, ** As a reminder, this free community will be closing Feb 1 - to make the transition to our FULL ACCESS community, please go here: https://www.skool.com/caribeswimpaid/about ---- To Start 2026, I have a new video series concept I want you to offer feedback on: Ever notice how swim videos make everything look… too easy? You watch someone float, breathe, or swim across the pool and think:“Okay… I can do that.” Then you get in the water… And it looks nothing like the video. It feels: Harder Messier Frustrating. And sometimes you wonder, “Why can’t I do something that looks so simple?” Here’s the truth: Most videos only show the finished version — not the learning process. So I’m thinking about creating a new series where: 👉 I demo the skill 👉 Then you see real students learning it (the struggles + wins) 👉 Then we break it down together Basically… what learning to swim actually looks like. Would this be helpful for you? Comment: ✅ Yes, I’d watch this or🤔 What would you want me to show?

Freestyle Breathing
Hello! And Happy New Year! I am stumped. I can't figure out this breathing situation. Everytime I go out for air, I catch water in my mouth. Which for some reason disturbs my momentum, and I find myself trying to spit out the water mid-strokes before the next air intake. In all videos I have watched it looks like the swimmer also catches water, but doesn't affect them? or they just don't catch water at all? (I don't know how, because the mouth is literally half-in and half-out of the water). Any ideas how to overcome this? Any drills recommendation? 😅

Hey @Genesis Salazar - yes there are a few things we can do to help this situation, mainly how you are exhaling, your body position when you make the rotation to your side, & ensuring we are not lifting our head. --- We are transitioning this community to a $29/month paid community here: https://www.skool.com/caribeswimpaid-8207 And I would love for you to join so I can get into the weeds on how to improve this - I can also watch videos of you to get CLEAR feedback. Thanks for submitting your question and lets make 2026 the year you learn to side breathe! BIG Love, Coach Jeff
