Hello Members, Today’s Quote is from the book How To Win Friends and Influence People. ā€œ Simply changing one three-letter word can often spell the difference between failure and success in changing people without giving offense or arousing resentment. Many people begin their criticism with sincere pies, followed by the word ā€œbutā€ and ending with a critical statement. For example, in trying to change a child’s careless attitude towards studies, we might say, ā€œWe’re really proud of you, Johnnie, for raising your grades this term. But if you had worked harder on your algebra, the results would have been better.ā€ In this case, Johnnie might feel encouraged until he heard the word ā€œbut.ā€ He might then question the sincerity of the original praise. To him, the praise seemed only to be a contrived lead-in to a critical inference of failure. Credibility would be strained, and we probably would not achieve our objectives of changing Johnnie’s attitude towards his studies. This could be easily overcome by changing the word ā€œbutā€ to ā€œand.ā€ ā€œWe’re really proud of you, Johnnie, for raising your grades this term, and by continuing the same conscientious effort next term, your algebra grade can be up with all the others.ā€ Now, Johnnie would accept the praise because there was no follow-up of an inference of failure. We have called his attention to the behavior. We wish to change indirectly, and the chances are he will try to live up to our expectations. ā€œ -Dale Carnegie Analysis: Body language no doubt has some effect on our relationships. But the words you use along with attitude can go a long way. Finding ways to make people feel positively about what they have done is a good way to build healthy positive relationships having others’ good will on your side. "Never listen to anyone for long"...???
Hello Members, Today’s Quote is from the book How To Win Friends and Influence People. ā€œ If you want to know how to make people shun you and laugh at you behind your back and even despise you, here is the recipe: Never listen to anyone for long. Talk incessantly about yourself. If you have and idea while the other person is talking, don’t wait for him or her to finish: bust right in and interrupt in the middle of a sentence. ā€œ -Dale Carnegie Analysis: A giant part of being a successful human on Earth is knowing how to deal with people, it can be as scary as life and death or as pertinent as sale or no sale. Finding ways to make genuine connections will always be the core of the good success. Listening, making your client feel heard, and being controlled are the pillars holding this core together. Dale talks in the negative about how you can push people away, multiply by (-1) and breeze through productive conversations! Thanks for reading with me, don’t forget to get your pages in today! You don’t win arguments!āš ļø
Hello Members, Today’s Quote is from the book How To Win Friends and Influence People. ā€œ As wise old Ben Franklin used to say: ā€œIf you argue and wrinkle and contradict, you may achieve a victory sometimes; but it will be an empty victory because you will never get your opponents good will.ā€ So figure it out for yourself. Which would you rather have, an academic, theatrical victory or a person’s good will? You can seldom have both. ā€œ -Dale Carnegie Analysis: Something I have struggled with my entire life, is being intimidating or aggressive when I talk. Sometimes I didn’t even have confidence and still noticed I pushed people away. I have found that nearly being the beta with facts to prove your competence, having an easy-going persona, and avoiding arguments will draw the good will of others your way.
