- More rigid roles, limiting how much variety you get in your tasks.
- Office politics can be more complex and layered.
- Harder to stand out, especially in very large teams.
Working for Small Companies (or Startups)
Pros:
- Broader responsibilities, giving you faster skill growth.
- More visible impact—your work directly influences the company.
- Faster decision-making and more flexibility.
- Closer relationship with leadership, often including the founders.
- More room for creativity and trying new ideas.
Cons:
- Less job stability, especially in early-stage companies.
- Limited benefits compared to large corporate packages.
- Fewer opportunities for formal promotions or structured career paths.
- Workload can be heavier, with long hours or shifting priorities.
- Resource constraints, meaning fewer tools, systems, or support.
