I don’t understand hosting

So there are 3 ways you can give workflow to client

Give them the JSON file
Create the workflow in their project on n8n?
They have a cloud account and I’m invited as administrator?

I understand 1. But if a client wants us to keep it up to date with a retainer fee how does that work? Does n8n have a free service to do this? Do I have to pay $24 a month at the minimum? Does the client also have to pay $24 a month at the minimum? What’s a cloud account or how to I get one? Is the cloud account more or less expensive?
