Interest And Retargeting Is Dead In 2025
This is super important so I'll sum it up quickly. Meta has been phasing out interest targeting since 2020 and it's been clear from constant removal of certain interest and further pushing from their advantage + campaigns. Over the last few years across all niches I've advertised in, I've noticed broad targeting getting better and better while interest targeting got worse. This is a result of the broad targeting learning algorithms advancing and overall just outpacing interest targeting in terms of getting to the right people. Interest targeting is limiting, but typically thats why we liked it, it gave us a smaller more localised group to take data on that we we're sure had higher intent than others. Sounds great, and it was, but it's just not the same any more. I'm generating much greater results now with broad targeting than with interest or retargeting now so please test this and do your own ads get your own data, but it's clear to me that this is the way moving forward into 2025. You can still add suggestions if you run advantage + or original audience options broad, but I'd suggest avoiding interest suggestions and only doing age, gender and language and testing over longer periods.
