Did you know: A small problem at a military base led to McDonald’s first drive-thru. Here’s how it changed everything.
In 1975, Dave Rich, who ran a McDonald's in Sierra Vista, Arizona, saw that soldiers from the nearby Fort Huachuca army base couldn’t leave their cars to buy food because of military rules.
He came up with an idea, a drive-thru window where customers could order without getting out of their cars. This idea quickly became a success. The drive-thru made it easier for customers to get food fast, and it helped increase sales.
By 1980, McDonald's started adding drive-thru windows to other locations. Eventually, almost every McDonald's restaurant had one. The drive-thru didn’t just make things more convenient, it helped McDonald’s grow into the huge fast-food company it is today.
The best solutions come from seeing what’s missing. Keep looking for ways to improve. #Believe
