The Inspiring Life Story of Cristiano Ronaldo
Born in Madeira, Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo grew up in a small home where money was always tight. His father worked as a kit manager at a local football club. When Cristiano was just 3 years old, he fell in love with football. He played barefoot in the streets with a ball made of rags, socks, or even trash. He did not have proper shoes. He did not have fancy gear. But he had a dream. At 12, Ronaldo left his family and moved to Lisbon to join Sporting CP’s academy. He was homesick, but he knew this was his chance. He trained harder than everyone. One of his coaches said he had never seen a young player work that hard. There were days when money was so tight that Ronaldo and his teammates waited outside McDonald’s at closing time, hoping for leftover burgers just to eat. He did not complain. He stayed focused. At 16, he played against Manchester United’s youth team. His speed and skill shocked the scouts. In 2003, he signed with Manchester United and made his debut in a 4 to 0 win against Bolton. He has won the Ballon d'Or five times and became one of the greatest footballers in history. As Ronaldo said, “If you don’t believe you are the best, then you will never achieve all that you are capable of.” Work hard. Stay hungry. Believe in yourself before anyone else does. Keep your eyes on your goal, no matter what. #Believe
