Mid-week check in- what did you cook?
Hey everyone, hope you're having a great week so far🙂 What’s one thing you cooked recently — even if it was super simple? (Frozen meals, toast, or ramen absolutely count.)
🍽️ Easy Chicken & Gravy (Beginner-Friendly)
This is a cozy, no-stress meal that works for dinner or leftovers. Ingredients: - 2–3 cooked chicken breasts (rotisserie works great) - 1½ cups homemade or store-bought gravy - Salt & pepper (optional) - Cooked rice, mashed potatoes, or biscuits (for serving) How to Make It: 1. Shred or slice the chicken into bite-size pieces 2. Warm the gravy in a pan over medium-low heat 3. Add the chicken to the gravy and stir gently 4. Let it simmer for 5–10 minutes until everything is warm 5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed How to Serve: - Over rice - Over mashed potatoes - With biscuits or toast ✨ Why this is beginner-friendly: - Uses already-cooked chicken - No timing stress - Hard to mess up - Reheats well for leftovers Would you eat this over rice, potatoes, or biscuits?
Easy Homemade Gravy (Beginner-Friendly)
Gravy is just fat + flour + liquid. Once you know that, it gets way less scary and you will become a pro at making homemade gravy. Ingredients: - 2 tablespoons butter (or pan drippings) - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour - 1–1½ cups broth (chicken, beef, or turkey) - Salt & pepper to taste How to Make It: 1. Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat 2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1–2 minutes 3. Slowly pour in the broth while whisking 4. Keep whisking until thickened (about 2–4 minutes) 5. Season with salt & pepper If it gets too thick → add more broth and if it’s too thin → let it simmer a little longer Common Gravy Mistakes (and fixes) - Lumpy gravy: keep whisking while adding liquid slowly - Too thick: add broth a splash at a time - Too thin: simmer longer — it thickens as it cooks ✨ Beginner Tip: Gravy thickens more as it cools. If it looks slightly thin in the pan, it’s probably perfect. Let me know if you've ever tried making gravy this way before and how it turned out?
