How YouTube works: The Earned Lotto
I've said in my videos that I committed to making 100 videos as an "exit criteria". That is I was "not allowed to quit" until I hit that number. But this is a simplification, the truth is this: YouTube (and many other arenas) are structured as "Earned Lotteries" What does it mean? Each time you upload a video to YT, it is like dropping one lottery ticket into the box. Now you think "well, if I keep dropping tickets, I will surely hit the jackpot at some point. Kaal said do 100 videos, so I bet I can hit the jackpot around that point!" Nope..... The Rule: The lottery ticket only counts if you meet the QUALITY BENCHMARKS of YouTube. If you don't, then the ticket submission doesn't count towards the 100 rule. So what are the benchmarks? I gotchu. === THE BENCHMARKS === There are hundreds of stats in YouTube studio, but here are the BIG 3 (it isn't close) I will attach screenshots to show you where to find these. I. Impressions Click Through Rate (CTR): 5%+ This is a measure of how good your thumbnail and title are. [Go to Video Analytics>Reach] II. 30 Second Retention percentage: 60%+ This is a measure of how good your hook is, and how well it aligns with your thumbnail & title [Go to Video Analytics>Overview>Scroll all the way down] III. Average Percentage Viewed: depends on video length.. for a 10-20 min video, 20% minimum for a 20-40 min video, 15% minimum for a 40+ min video, 10% minimum This is a measure of how engaging the video is to your viewer. This is a function of "value density" That is, how tactical your advice is, how entertaining the video is, how good your storytelling is etc. [Go to Video Analytics>Overview>Scroll all the way down] === BREAK === So all this to say, if you want to break into YouTube, you need to make 100 videos that have the following: I. CTR above 5% II. 30 sec retention percentage above 60% III. Average Percentage Viewed above 10-20%, depending on length Easy Peasy. Lemon Squeezy. Two Ways to Win, One Way to Lose.
Alexander to Diogenes "I am Alexander, King of Men. I can give to you anything you desire. Gold, rubies, lands and women. These are mine to bestow. What would you have?" Diogenes to Alexander "Well, I want you to get outta my way - you're blocking my Sun!" === BREAK === I've read this story before, but I only understood it recently. Suffering comes from desire. Diogenes had no desires, so he had no suffering. This is why Alexander says to his men after the exchange with Diogenes "If I were not Alexander, I would wish to be Diogenes" My interpretation: There are two ways to win. Victory Condition #1 (Diogenes): Reduce your desires to the bare minimum and you reduce your suffering to the bare minimum. Achievement doesn't matter because time washes away all accomplishment anyways.. Victory Condition #2 (Alexander): Don't even try to reduce desire; instead aim for excellence. Embrace the Will to Power. You will suffer greatly, but you will achieve more. So which one is correct? Answer: pick one! I believe that both options are good answers to the question of "What makes a good life?" The wrong answer is the wide valley in between these two peaks. The valley of mediocrity. Most people neither have the endurance and sheer will to pursue excellence, nor do they have the humility to accept the impermanence of all things material. They are ambitious enough to suffer, but not ambitious enough to make it worth it. Their humility is sufficient to dull their agency, but they lack the courage to renounce their worldly desires. Are you Alexander, or are you Diogenes? Pick one, and go all in. Lux in Tenebris, KR Full Video: https://youtu.be/kPDQ9kagTSE?si=U5Az3J1Wqor9y4kc

Workshop Declared: Focus & Goalsetting (21st March)
This will be a live workshop hosted by me. We'll spend ~40 mins to re-commit to the actions & behaviors we know we must take to get to our goals. Use this as a change to reset and re-orient. I know you probably had some big goals for 2026. It's March now, which means the initial hype and bs would have died down (good) Now its time to get to work. Go to the Calendar Section to add the even to your calendar. See you there! Lux in Tenebris, KR
I'm going to do 100 hrs of Meditation in 10 Days
Months ago, one of the Advisory members made this post (attached below). When I read it, I thought "that's something I want to do someday". But instead of putting it off for "someday", I decided to exercise my agency. I will be going on Monday. === ORIGINAL POST === Credits: Ari N. Yes, it’s true. I meditated for 10 days straight. In this post, I recap my lifechanging experience with a 10-day silent Vipassana meditation course. TLDR: I completed a 10-day silent Vipassana meditation retreat (completely free, no phones/talking, 10+ hours of daily meditation). It taught me that my reactions to life cause my suffering, not life itself, and I’m noticeably less miserable and reactive now. It’s the practical application of Stoicism we all talk about but rarely practice. 🧘 CONTEXT Have you ever fantasized about just dropping everything and becoming a mindful monk? A 10-day Vipassana meditation course (which actually spans 12 calendar days) gives you a true taste of that life. These courses are COMPLETELY FREE to anyone. You are provided with delicious food and comfortable accommodations so that you can dedicate 100% of your energy toward the practice. Vipassana is: A technique to help eradicate the suffering you face on a daily basis (even the suffering you aren't yet conscious of). A method of mental purification that allows you to face life’s tensions and problems in a calm, balanced way. An "art of living" that you can use to make positive contributions to society. To keep the environment pure, no reading or writing materials, phones, verbal or non-verbal communication with other students, outside food, intoxicants, or nicotine are allowed during the course. 🧘 THE EXPERIENCE On the first day, you arrive in the late afternoon, share a light meal, gather for a teaching session, and end the evening with your first group meditation. (The first image below is of the meditation hall, and the second is of the Pagoda at the center). Bedtime is between 9:00 and 9:30 pm, and you are awoken by a bell at 4:00 am sharp. The first meditation of the day begins at 4:30 am. (See the third image for the full course timetable).
