Video issues
I have tried and failed at least five times to upload videos on here. Which kind of eliminates the whole purpose on having a group. It really sucks that you can't upload videos directly to this group. I have to upload them to YouTube and then post the link. Kind of eliminated the point of a separate app.....

Today’s Foraging Adventure 🍄
Didn’t find any hen of the woods (maitake) mushrooms today — sometimes the hunt itself is the reward! Still, it turned into a great learning day in the woods. I filmed a short video on how to identify oak trees (where hens like to grow!) and another quick one on wild comfrey — an easy-to-spot fall plant you’ve probably walked past a hundred times. I’ll be sharing both videos here soon. Even when you don’t find what you’re looking for, nature always gives you something to learn. 🌳🍂 Might look again tomorrow. I love having hen all year round if I can have it.

🌳🍄 Maitake Hunt Tomorrow! 🍄🌳
Tomorrow I’ll be heading out in search of Hen of the Woods (Grifola frondosa) — also called Maitake, which in Japanese means “dancing mushroom” (because people would dance with joy when they found it!). These amazing mushrooms grow at the base of mature oak trees, and I’ll show you how to identify both the trees and the mushrooms themselves. Once we find some, I’ll walk through: ✅ How to properly clean them ✅ The best ways to store them for freshness ✅ A few of my favorite recipes to enjoy this wild harvest Excited to share the adventure with you all! 🍂✨

Welcome! Introduce yourself + share a pic of your workspace 🎉
Hey everyone, I’m Nate. I started this group to share skills I’ve learned from living close to the land — identifying medicinal plants, foraging edible mushrooms, making maple syrup, gardening garlic, and keeping bees. This is a space for anyone who wants to learn, share, and get inspired by nature and self-reliance. To kick things off, drop a comment below: Where you’re from What skills you’re most excited to learn or share here Glad you’re here — let’s grow this together!”
