I'm going to be creating a business plan for myself soon and have some questions.
I live in a small town in Canada and am currently living at home with my parents, so I don't have to worry about paying the utility bills, property taxes, etc. I'm also a low income individual receiving disability payments from the government.
I know I have to build up my social media presence (Instagram, FB, YouTube, etc) to make people aware of my services, which will potentially lead to work.
I'm good at composing heartfelt, calm, emotional music, so I thought I would start with that, create a demo reel and pitch it to some local yoga and wellness businesses. I have no doubt that people will enjoy my music, but how do I convince them to pay for it and that my music is worth the amount of money I'm asking?
Do I first ask a business what their budget is for music? What if they don't have a budget for music? Is there a way to convince them to pay for my music?
There's a business analyst that I will eventually meet. I haven't made any "sales" yet, so how would she be able to determine if this will be a successful business or not? I know some other composers who also teach. This is not an option for me. What are some other music related things that I could do that will bring in some extra money?
