Help me pick the next ComposerOS video
Hey everyone, Need your help picking the next ComposerOS video. The one I keep coming back to is a track visualizer build. The point: take a finished cue, turn it into something you can actually post on YouTube, without losing a weekend inside After Effects. Most composers I know have a hard drive full of music nobody ever hears. This is the fix. But I'd rather hear from you before I commit to it. Two questions: 1. Would a track visualizer video be useful to you? If yes, anything specific you'd want it to cover. 2. If something else in ComposerOS is higher on your list, tell me what. Whatever gets the most pull this week is what I record. Cheerio, Alex

@Alex Pfeffer makes sense I guess. An easier approach would be to just create a video that looks like a section of gameplay and just layer my tracks on top. I was thinking if there was some automated F mod implementation software, it could be really cool but maybe that's a faster way to go as well.

@Alex Pfeffer Was thinking to show how the finished loops work in a real game scenario so to speak, maybe having a mini game devs can experiment with helps them see I can think like a game dev and not only make music? But u re right a finished game beats a AI created mockup one any day

@Sean Walsh thank you again for ur great feedback! Also based on the feedback I got from alex right now i think issues re that I dont really have a "volume hirarchy"( strings vs brass) yet and also it lacks a continuous melodic theme connecting the parts, maybe thats also what u noticed suggesting a high melody on top.

@Michael Ramhardter I think its a strong track, if you wanna crank it up a notch you could bring in the choir a bit sooner before the drop around the 1:50 mark and intensify it by adding more high voices later? As for the main synt lead, personally I d experiment with a bit more space around it but thats a matter of taste. Lastly I think maybe some risers towards the end or subsweeps could build the peak nicer towards the final drop. Just my humble opinion, take what resonates with u :)
Little Sounddesign Trick I discovered
I recently have been l experimenting with ways to create syntesizer sounds that are a little different than the ususal stock presets and though I share the process in short form. Im using a free Tool called Paul X stretch and feed my guitar into it, you can check the steps below. https://sonosaurus.com/paulxstretch/ Maybe it inspires you for ur next production

@Frank Herrlinger makes sense, do you know any good sounddesigners to learn this from?

@Paul Carroll makes sense, where do you usually get your scores? I use musescore a lot but often its full of placeholder instruments

@Paul Matthew welcome!
What DAW are you folks using for film scoring?
I've personally tried to learn Ableton over the past year and I find it as unintuitive as any piece of software I've ever used. I play live as well as craft midi. What DAWs have you had success with?

I use reaper, its a bit overwhelming to set up but once I got familiar with it i absolutely fell in love

@Stellita Loukas Sorry didnt see your answer till now. I d recommend that you start with the absolute basics you need for your workflow and ignore everything else. Sooner or later you might come up with a , I wish I could do XYZ with the press of 1 button , moment. Reaper will be able to do it :) that way it gradually expands organically. Also a combination of using Claude and Repaer Alejandro ( YT Channel ) is amazing for streamlining things. Lastly the SWS extensions are an absolute must for customizing things, and also check out differen Reaper themes so it doesnt look as ugly. Hope this helps
