Clean Sounding Bass

I can't figure out how to get the bass to sound clean, mainly when playing it spiccato. Comparing it to other tracks, mine always gets lost in the background and you can't really tell when the note is actually beeing played...I've tried cutting off the low end and then boosting it but still doesen't seem to be enough. Any tips would be greatly appreciated 😄
