OpenAI just announced that you can now share ChatGPT Projects and create public URLs. I've always preferred Projects over GPTs, and the only advantage GPTs had was the ability to share them publicly.
Here's why ChatGPT Projects are superior to GPTs:
1. Chat Organization: Projects organize your chats chronologically by date. GPTs scatter everything across your sidebar with no structure.
2. Advanced Features: Projects give you access to Deep Research and ChatGPT Agent Mode. GPTs don't.
3. More Training Files: Plus users can upload 25 files per Project vs only 20 for GPTs. Free users get 5 files in Projects (but can't create GPTs at all).
4. Project-Only Memory: You can isolate memories to specific Projects so they don't bleed into other conversations.
5. Accessibility: Free users of ChatGPT can build Projects (with limitations), but they can't create GPTs at all. They can only use GPTs others have shared.
6. Moving Existing Chats: You can move any existing chat into a Project by clicking the three dots and selecting "Add to project." This is huge for organizing old conversations. GPTs can't do this.
