AI & Claude Glossary — 50 Terms, Plain English

If you are new to Claude and AI automations, you have probably come across terms that don't make sense.

Tokens. MCP. Context window. Agentic loop. This guide defines 50 of them in plain English.

A few things in here are most important when you are just starting:

Tokens are the unit Claude uses to measure everything. 1 token is roughly 1 word.
Claude re-reads your entire conversation on every message. By message 30, you are paying 31x more than message 1.
Long conversations make Claude worse, not just slower. Quality drops as the chat gets longer.
A CLAUDE.md file tells Claude who you are before every session starts. Like an employee handbook.
