The agents who stayed through the 2008 crash became the top earners of the next decade.
When the real estate market collapsed in 2008, 90% of agents quit. They packed up, walked away, and called it impossible. The 10% who stayed — who adapted, who served through the pain, who refused to let a broken market break them — became the dominant agents of the entire next decade. Every downturn is a shakeout. It removes the people who were never fully committed and leaves more market share for the ones who were. Hard seasons don't destroy careers. They reveal which careers were built to last. "The 10% who stayed, adapted, and served through the pain became the top earners of the 2010s." Are you building a career that can survive a down market — or one that only works when conditions are perfect? What's the difference?

The market doesn't stop deals. Fear does.
Every time the market shifts, agents start making excuses the market didn't give them. "Nobody's buying right now." "Rates are too high." "Inventory is too low." Meanwhile, somewhere in your market, houses are closing today. Someone bought. Someone sold. Someone moved. No matter how bad the market gets, motivated people are still making decisions. Your job isn't to wait for perfect conditions. It's to find the motivated people, adapt your message to meet the market where it is, and outwork the doubt. "Markets don't stop deals, fear does. Control your mindset, adapt your strategy, and outwork the doubt."

A deal just died. Here's exactly what to do next.
It's going to happen. The buyer ghosts. The appraisal kills the contract. The seller backs out at the last minute after weeks of work. Here's the framework for bouncing back fast, three steps, in order: One, Feel it. Don't suppress the frustration. It's real. Give yourself an hour, not a week. Two, Learn from it. What could you control? What would you do differently? Three, Move on. Get back on offense immediately. The next deal is already out there waiting. "Deals will die. It's not personal, it's part of the game. Grieve it, learn from it, and get back on offense."
