What should I do if my client doesn't want to give me a testimonial?

I've been doing freelance copywriting for a bit, still learning but able to implement what i've learned and turn that knowledge into wisdom, I asked for a testimonial and referral if I delivered good pieces of copy, the guy (for a little bit of context) reviewed my copy and said it was great, he even loved it so much that he asked me if i wanted to write copy for his agency, anways I reached out to him yesterday about the testimonial and referal OR me joining his agency he hasnt responded, he left me on read and i was wondering through this if i should keep bugging him about it until he tells me leave him alone or just leave it as is, so far though, it looks like ill bug him for a response

Any thoughts?
