📅 Daily Check-in - September 10, 2026
💭 Reflection:
"Yesterday we said our farewells to Dad. We had our humorous moments like when the hearse arrived, we couldn't get him out as the door refused to unlock. Eventually we got him inside although it was hilarious watching a group of men figure out to get him through the door as well as themselves. Once sited in the spot we chose inside, the lid was taken off and we could all mill around, talk, eat, laugh and cry. We all wrote our messages on the inside of the lid, packed him up with a few treats for his journey, along with the daily newspaper and a pencil. After the lid was secured, the undertaker quickly asked if we put any alcohol in with him - we all laughed and said no but won't deny talking about it! Mum travelled in the hearse, while we all followed to the crematorium. It was beautiful to see him at peace - the rectal cancer was excruciatingly painful and nothing he nor any of us could do to ease that. Throughout the day I noticed the feeling of being unwell. I put it down to the stress being released. It appears that my youngest son and I have come down with a virus. So today was a day of taking it easy and being kind to myself. I managed to get a little work done = it's a start back into normality."
