Actors Wisdom for Wednesdays!
Was Brando dismissing acting as an art form in this quote? Or was he questioning the emotional motivations that drive people toward it. Perhaps Brando is suggesting that acting often comes from a deep inner restlessness, a need to express, to be seen, or to work through something personal. When he says quitting is a sign of maturity, he’s actually challenging the idea of needing external validation, reminding us to ask whether we act from love of the craft… or from a need to fill something inside. Food for thoughts. What do you think?

Free acting class - Meisner Technique / Gonsalves Method
I'm currently doing a qualification in adult teaching (the one that further education college teachers have; I've completed level 3 and currently working on level 4). For my next unit, I need to do two 60 minute lessons, and submit the recordings for assessment (I want to do it over a call for ease of recording). It can be as few as 2-3 students (not 1 on 1 tutoring). Date and time to be arranged. Would only take an hour (or two, to do both classes). I'm therefore offering a free class to complete this. Depending on the students and their level, I can offer: - Introduction to the Meisner technique - Introduction to the Gonsalves Method (an applied new version of Meisner, with a new approach to defining scenes by 5 conditions); I'm already an acredited teacher in this method. - Use of tactics when playing objectives - Scene study Let me know if you are up for this, and if so, when is good for you; I'll try to co-ordinate with other interested people to figure out a time to make it work.
New chic on the block:)

Actors Wisdom for Wednesdays!
Stella Adler believed that great acting should feel completely natural and effortless. Her quote means that the highest level of performance is when the audience forgets they are watching someone perform and it feels truthful, lived in, and real rather than forced or theatrical. Adler was one of the most influential acting teachers in American cinema and theatre. She trained some of the industry’s most celebrated actors, most famously Marlon Brando, who helped popularise her technique, as well as Robert De Niro, Warren Beatty, Benicio del Toro, Harvey Keitel and Salma Hayek. Her approach emphasised imagination, emotional truth and deep character understanding, shaping generations of performers.
