Actors Wisdom for Wednesdays!
Halle is encouraging us not to let ego or pride make life heavier than it needs to be. By learning to laugh at ourselves and our setbacks, we build resilience and perspective, therefore obstacles feel less overwhelming when we approach them with humility and humour rather than frustration or self criticism.

Thats true! Especially for us actors when we eventually run into obstacles ourselves!
Monday Musings for Actors
Daniel Day Lewis is widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of his generation, becoming the only performer to win three Academy Awards for Best Actor. His success is largely attributed to his intense commitment to method acting, meticulous preparation, and a highly selective approach to roles, choosing complex characters in films such as My Left Foot, There Will Be Blood, and Lincoln, which allowed him to deliver deeply transformative performances.

His performances in his films inspire me regarding my dedication to my craft. Definitely one of the greatest to ever do it for sure!

It's about walking into the room with ownership, not desperation. When one stops trying to get the job and instead focus on delivering their version of the character, they shift the power dynamic — they are offering something, not begging for approval. That “fuck it” attitude isn’t careless — it’s confident. It’s trusting one's instincts, committing fully to one's choices, and understanding that the right roles will align with who we genuinely are, not who we're trying to be.

Quote from Uta Hagen
The more an actor develops a full sense of his own identity, the more his scope and capacity for identification with other characters than his own will be made possible. - Uta Hagen from her book “Respect for Acting”
