Actors Wisdom for Wednesdays!
Was Brando dismissing acting as an art form in this quote? Or was he questioning the emotional motivations that drive people toward it. Perhaps Brando is suggesting that acting often comes from a deep inner restlessness, a need to express, to be seen, or to work through something personal. When he says quitting is a sign of maturity, heโ€™s actually challenging the idea of needing external validation, reminding us to ask whether we act from love of the craftโ€ฆ or from a need to fill something inside. Food for thoughts. What do you think?

Stella Adler believed that great acting should feel completely natural and effortless. Her quote means that the highest level of performance is when the audience forgets they are watching someone perform and it feels truthful, lived in, and real rather than forced or theatrical. Adler was one of the most influential acting teachers in American cinema and theatre. She trained some of the industryโ€™s most celebrated actors, most famously Marlon Brando, who helped popularise her technique, as well as Robert De Niro, Warren Beatty, Benicio del Toro, Harvey Keitel and Salma Hayek. Her approach emphasised imagination, emotional truth and deep character understanding, shaping generations of performers.

New chic on the block:)
Howdy all! I'm Tamira (Ta-my-rah)! I have a strong business side and strong creative side. Been in and out of the film & theatre industry, as an Actor, singer, dancer, as well as behind the scenes as a SPX makeup artist and boom operator. I miss those days, but I keep finding my way back and eventually want to start acting again and start writing, creating, and producing my own stories for film. So excited to be here to connect with other creatives!!

This quote is a reminder that talent alone isnโ€™t enough. Careers are built not just on performance, but on relationships. In other words, itโ€™s not only about connecting with fellow actors, but also with the producers, directors, casting agents and decision makers who create opportunities. For actors, networking isnโ€™t about being transactional but about building genuine professional relationships. The right connection can open doors to auditions, collaborations and long term career growth in ways that skill alone sometimes canโ€™t.

Hello glad to meet some of you guys on zoom.
I was on the zoom for a short while. Great tips on networking in the industry. It is part of the business aspect that actors can tend to get lazy on. Craft is important but also it needs to be supplemented with the business side. Organize the contacts so it's easy to send emails or texts and also going out to events. Use apps, spreadsheet and also on phone who is who and keeping social media open for acting gigs. I go by Angel Pak, Korean American actor grew up in Texas, USA in Seoul Korea

Hey Angel, it was great having you on the zoom call and hopefully you'll incorporate the tips into your acting.
