Hello 👋
I’m super new to roller skating (like… just trying not to fall new 😅), but I’ve always wanted to learn and now felt like the right time (even though I’m 37) to finally give it a go! Looking forward to learning alongside you all, cheering each other on, and maybe even laughing at a few tumbles together. 💬 👉 I’d love to hear from you too! Where are you skating from? What made you want to start? I’m in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 if any other Aussies here give me a 👋.

Hi Natasha, Welcome to the group. It is great that you decided to begin your roller skate journey.I roller skate in NYC. I started to roller skate to improve mental health and body movement awareness. Sk8shot videos are good to learn and reinforce systematic progression. Alway skate with wrist grads and knee pads. How is your progress ?
What content do you guys want to see 🤔?
Hey fellow skaters! If you guys don’t know me my name is Adriana. I’m a new instructor at SK8SHOT Studios. What are you guys working on/ struggling with or even interested in learning. I’ll make tutorials and educational content for you guys! Just let me know 😇 ⬇️ Drop some ideas ⬇️

Hello, I’m Jackie. I’m so excited to finally take the plunge to finally learn to skate. I’ve been wanting to learn for years, but life always got in the way. I decide to just go for it and start living and enjoying life in my busy schedule. I watch folks on YouTube in skate videos all the time and just admire the peace and grace of skating. I’m 60 years young, live to hike and I am ready to learn and grow with the spirt of roller skating.🤙🏽

Welcome to the community. Wear protective gear, start with locking down the fundamentals , put your skates on everyday even if it is for 10 minutes, and always have fun and remember y you started
Any tips on making skates more comfy?
I just got my first pair of skates (Riedell Boosts) and in just an hour of skating my right inner ankle is rubbed raw! I tried adjusting the laces and even with them fully undone it didnt seem to help much. The stiffness on the boot is nothing like the floppy rentals that Ive grown accustomed to. Any advice would be great!

Along with comfortable socks I also wear compression socks. It is not padding but might help. The higher end Riedell boots are stiffer and take long to break in. I agree with Patrice’s post
