I did something new!
I saw this movement a while back and thought that it was not only cool but something that I might not be able to do. So I tried it. And failed. It is hard to do. But it is so close to something else that I can do I thought it would be something that I could. I do a bridge walk around regularly. Start in a bridge walk my feet all the way around. The new skill is not on the head it is just on hands walking all the way around. I tried again and failed. Fast forward, I started a new coaching gig and have been working out trying to get all my guys doing the one that I can. The other day I was trying to describe it to my wrestler, who was doing it wrong. Telling him that his hands need to stay in the same place as he walks around. Then I mentioned the other one. Tried it and I did it!!! I feel proud and it has given me a renewed sense of I can still do hard things, and also do new things after 40. What are you working on? How can we help you reach your goal? I’m much better and helping people with specific things than general advice. Have a blessed day.

Love this ❤️
The road to mastery.
I’m listening to the book “The Rise of Superman.” The study of flow. How to get there and recreate the mastery that is found in some of the greatest action and adventure sports feats. While the majority of the book is spent highlighting the incredible feats of some outstanding individuals. It is incredible to hear how the state of flow is found and utilized. Take away: goals need to be intrinsic in nature, practice a lot, and do things that you enjoy doing. If you’re on a fitness journey, just know that we need to spend a lot of time in order to see incredible results and challenge yourself, for yourself!

I’m doing all of these things so hope to experience flow ❤️
What basic movements do you see in other places?
I have been focusing a lot on our footwork and how we step in our wrestling stance in order to get into scoring positions. It has been a big focus in my coaching this semester. The acronym is ABL (Always be loading). This stance I am fiding is useful in a lot of areas of our life. It provides a strong, balanced position. This translates to the skateboard practice that I have been doing with my son. the exact stance is exactly how you should be when you first step onto the board. Like one of my online clients said L-stance. I like that he put a name to it. it helps him understand it better. This power step is what I would recommend in a lot of cases for people. it is not a large step back to maintain balance. it is stepping to a position that allows us to maintain our body position without leaning forward or backward. Is there anything that you have been doing that you see show up in other activities?

@Samuel Wendland brain didn’t engage so needed to be an automatic learned drilled fall plan which I didn’t have. Would like the video as I definitely want to try again thanks 🙏

My goal as a lifelong mover has been a wonderful goal. It makes me want to get up when I feel like staying in bed. It forces me to choose to do things that will help me reach this goal. I have been fascinated with longevity and find myself doing little things that actually are the hard way. I know it is importantly to work smart. But choose the hard things like hip mobility work and strengthening my legs by doing lots of side lunges. Ultimately, “It’s on you. To get you. Where you want to be.” What are you doing today to help you get where you want to be?

Day 642 of moving every day here. I move my body to shift my mind and it never fails to work ❤️
Your tribe is your vibe.
Facing challenges in life is inevitable. The people that we spend our time with are incredibly influential on our habits, beliefs, and activities. As a person who wants to be a lifelong mover the people I choose to spend my time with are young, active, and vibrant, full of life. One of the best things that has come out of the internet and of the Information Age is that we can surround ourselves with people that fill us with good energy and ways to improve ourselves without having to meet them in person. What people are you choosing to influence you and why? Thank you for being here! What movement are you working on/in?

As I age I surround myself with inspiring people who are bucking the trend, blazing their own trails and who I can be my authentic self with. I’m back to trampolining after breaking my arm and I feel like a kid again. Day 640 of moving today 🙌🏻 future me is proud and thankful ❤️
