Problems of L step maneuver
Isn't the l step just a really inefficient way to change angles and reset? You're breaking your base and squaring up, you're almost airborn for a fraction of a second and you also need some time to reestablish your base. All of this can be timed by a good opponent. As an alternative I find stepping backwards diagonally into circling way more efficient and far safer.
Old school stance
What is your opinion on old school boxing stance (ex. style used by Ezzard Charles, Sugar Ray Robinson etc.) with 60% of weight on the back leg, head off the center line which elevates front shoulder and with rear hand in front of the chin?

@Atiko Academy That is a great response. Also, I just want to thank you for this amazing resource and opportunity to learn.

@Vincent Perkins Good old cue for that "old school" rear hand position is thumb on a chin, so in reality it is in between glued to the cheek and completely frontal position. It's dynamic, fast to parry and fast to block hooks, also your cross is less telegraphed and easier to hide behind a jab and maybe even less taxing on one's shoulder (mine is looser in that kind of position). Guys from Kronk gym used it successfully.
