New Classes Tab
Good morning tribe! I like the K.I.S.S. principle, as such I have made a new tab ^^^^ up there. In it you will find full details of the various courses and classes I run, whether they are in person or via zoom or a blend of both. You will find classes suitable for novices and therapists alike. It's an easy, one click search, of all classes, and will be added to, so check back regularly. Same applies to all the other topics you can see in the tabs. They do save you just trawling through all the post on this front page. Have a look, you might find something you would like to attend and take part in. I'm not a mind reader, so if there is a subject you would like to learn more about, give me a shout and I'll see what I can do. If you would rather a 1-on-1 private class with me, then have a look in Classroom (major tab) and you can arrange that with myself. Thank you. Rainbows, Jane x

Shout out to Reflexologists in our Tribe!
OK, as this group in not just about essential oils, to all you 'toe twiddlers' out there..... 1. What is the best thing you ever learnt during your Reflexology training that blew your mind? 2. What would you like to learn more about that would enhance your Rx treatments? 3. Are you just a thumb and index finger twiddler, or were you trained to use all 10 tools? 4. Like and comment below to get some points, and I'll also add something in Classroom that I will give you immediate access to, which will also give you extra 'points' 😊

1. There was a reflexologist from Myanmar in my aromatherapy class and he taught us different techniques for working on the feet. I had 2 tutors, Malaysian and Australian so we'd already learnt from 2 perspectives, so it was interesting to add a 3rd. 3. I use all 10. I became a believer when I practised the lung points on my 3yr old and he said "it hurts". When I asked him where, he pointed at his chest with a very confused expression and said "Here".

@Kathryn Lynnette Bales that's adorable 💚
Does this sound like you?
Reading the book Gift of Power by Archie Fire Lame Deer, he talks about how it was inconvenient being a Medicine Man, Shaman and Healer because he would be called to administer healing to the tribe which was sometimes scattered across the reservation. The dilemma was, he said, that he was born to be the healer and Medicine Man. Do you feel that you have endured struggles financially or pycholgically because you were born to work in this field?

@Kathryn Lynnette Bales you can, however it takes weeks to get a response.
Which Aromatherapy book is your favourite?
Which Aromatherapy book(s) do you ENJOY reading. Not because of its informative content necessarily, but because of the way it is written which makes you feel calm, engaged and happy, rather like the first meme thingy. Mine are in the second meme. I've also added 3 books, which, not directly related to Aromatherapy, but all the same, I enjoy reading and dipping into when I'm researching perhaps, or just dip into on rainy days over a nice cuppa. So, which are your favourite Aromatherapy, or related books, that you enjoy reading, not for reference/info?

Danièle Ryman's Aromatherapy In Your Diet I fell in love with in 1997 before I studied in 98, just learning more about Nutrition and Aromatherapy! Scott Cunningham Magical Aromatherapy has been the inspiration of many of my blends as I am very much into the esoteric arts and astrology. Valerie Worwood's Fragrant Mind I have always found fascinating along with Fragrant Heavens. I have both of these in hardback and they are well loved. My other love is Water Magic - Healing bath recipes for the body, spirit and soul by Mary Muryn which is all about bathing with essential oils, homeopathic remedies, crystals, and more. I bought this one in '95. Also Jeanne Rose' s Herbal Body Book and Kitchen Cosmetics. I like the way she takes you on a journey with each ingredient. All up, I have over 60 books on aromatherapy, and about the same again on herbs, nutrition and natural cosmetics. 😍

@Kathryn Lynnette Bales lol... And the number is....
What's this all about then?
Very often over the years, I have seen so many 'benefits' of EO's but often the information is based on what the plant, read herb, will do and can be far removed from what the EO will do. (Pic #1) Also, and a bug bear of mine, there are so many EO's out there available to the public, which quite frankly, should not be available at all. (Pic no 2) A couple of years ago, I started my next book, entitled The Natural Approach to 'The Poisons': Herbs v Essential Oils. It is very nearly complete, my target is by the end of this weekend. I am not a herbalist by any stretch of the imagination, I'm a Clinical Aromatherapist. However, any Aromatherapist worth their salt, will also look into the original plant material as part of their education. I've thoroughly enjoyed doing this deep dive into the history and the application of herbs today, and comparing that to the Essential Oils. The herbs and EO's in the book are listed on the HDTEO (Hazardous, Dangerous, Toxic Essential Oils) list, and IFRA (International Fragrance Association), and they regulate fragrances used in all types of products that come into contact with human skin. This can over spill into the Aromatherapy industry, obviously. Further the COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) for the UK Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002. The American equivalent is OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). In Europe, the equivalent is the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) all of whom define essential oils as “a volatile part of a natural product”. I'll update more once I am happy to put the book into print.

We had to learn herbs along with essential oils during my diploma training. 😊 Mrs Grieve's Modern Herbal is one of my text books.
