Writing this to any and all that still check in here once in a while, but especially @Tammy Matlock @Tom Sandkamp @Samuel Fletcher . I would like to be able to share wine thoughts and experiences from time to time, but it is hard without our Skool’s founder and fearless leader, @Marie Cheslik . Miss you boss! I will continue to try and will be happy if any of you are still willing and able to join in. So let’s start with this pic! I was in NYC earlier this week and reached out to the one and only Aldo Sohm, famous sommelier and author. He was very kind to make 15 minutes for me to chat at his Aldo Sohm Wine bar, adjacent to Le Bernardin restaurant where he is wine director. He signed his brand new book “Wine Simple - Perfect Pairings”, which I had brought with me. If your wine education journey includes getting better at food & wine pairing, this is a must! He was also gracious enough to accept a copy of my humble little wine book! Let me know what you’re drinking and enjoying these days! Cheers to all who read this! 🍷

I agree with Sam. I like learning as much as I can from others about wine. I will look for this book. Also I have enjoyed your book. Are you coming to Eastern Connecticut this summer? I remember you have a friend opening a winery here.

We recently went to Lisbon and a 10 cruise to the Canary Islands, Morocco, and Spain. We had some amazing wines. These are the wines we had in Portugal.

We enjoyed three outstanding wines — The Unius, Pacheca, and Vale de Ancho Reserva 2015 — and each one was exceptional. We tasted them at Fidalgo Wine Bar in Lisbon, where both the food and the wine selection were truly remarkable. If you ever find yourself in Lisbon, you have to visit Fidalgo; it’s an unforgettable experience for wine lovers.
Vacation Wines Continues
I wasn’t able to post all the wines. Here are some more. I posted a bottle of beer from because the label was amazing. I was also ready to join Marie on for the book tour on line from the ship till I realized it was rescheduled. I was sad. Can’t wait to join on 11/30.

Opus One and Château Lafite Rothschild were among the bottles kept on the ship. After the crew realized our enthusiasm for wine, they generously brought out all their best bottles for us. Purchasing Opus One or Lafite aboard was far beyond our means, even though my father-in-law had purchased cases of Lafite for each of his children. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to enjoy both the 1975 and 1978 Lafite vintages during special occasions, and they were truly extraordinary.

I agree. We go every year to Long Island wineries and they are ok. The views are breathtaking over the ocean.
No Bottle 😩
I know I said to @Tom Sandkamp and @Tammy Matlock in a previous post that I had a big anniversary dinner scheduled for Monday. I did have the dinner at a special place (The Marble Room) in my downtown. Unfortunately, for reasons not relevant here, no bottle of wine with dinner. A glass of NZ Sauvignon Blanc and a glass of Rioja. Very nice. Wish I could be sharing details of amazing wine, but alas no. Here are a couple of pics of Marble Room and my dry aged delmonico 🥩. Stay tuned for an interesting post in about 10 days where I will be part of a special wine package being auctioned off for charity! 🍷

Learning more about wine will only enrich my life. I have a good basic understanding of wine and I’m ready to increase my knowledge.
