August is Going to Feel Different
Good morning, everyone! As we step into August, I wanted to give you a little preview of what's ahead inside The Leadership Lab. One of my goals has always been to create more than a place to consume leadership content. I wanted to build a space where we could think more deeply, reflect more intentionally, and actually apply what we're learning in real time. Beginning this month, you'll start to see a few exciting additions: 📖 The Leadership Lab Journal Each month you'll receive a beautifully designed journal centered around one leadership theme, complete with research, AI reflection prompts, guided questions, and practical actions you can immediately apply. 🎙️ Live Leadership Labs Our twice-monthly sessions will become even more interactive as we use the journal to guide our conversations, workshop real leadership challenges, and learn from one another. 📝 Permission Slips Every other week, you'll receive a Leadership Permission Slip, a simple reminder to let go of the expectations, habits, or assumptions that may be limiting your leadership. 📊 Leadership Dashboard At the beginning of each month, you'll take a quick self-assessment to help you measure your growth over time. The goal isn't perfection. It's awareness. 💬 Office Hours A dedicated space for coaching, questions, and conversations about the leadership challenges you're navigating right now. 🌟 Member Spotlights Because some of the best learning happens when we celebrate one another's growth, wisdom, and leadership journeys. This isn't about adding more to your plate. It's about creating a rhythm that helps you pause, think, and lead with greater intention. Thank you for trusting me with your leadership journey. I'm so excited for what's ahead, and I can't wait to begin this next chapter with each of you. See you in the Lab.

@Mary Hemphill thank you for truly investing in each of us, the path, and the grace for the things we carry.
Scar or Wound?
Every leader has a moment that shaped them. A season that changed how they see authority, trust, conflict, power. The question is whether you're leading from the scar or from the wound. This video is the first conversation in a series called The Inside Work. It's about why certain moments hit you harder than they should and how to tell the difference between leading from something you've healed and leading from something that's still open. Take a few minutes to listen in and reflect. We're going deeper in the Live Lab this Thursday!

I am traveling today and unsure if my schedule will accommodate tonight’s lab. Let me say this… I have not watched this yet, but THaNK YOU! This is no doubt so timely as I literally woke up questioning if my internal reaction to my day yesterday is a trigger reaction I should work through or an informed intuition I should listen to. This is why I didn’t hesitate to join this lab. Your investment in serving others with authenticity and value are consistent.

@Jennifer Clark yes, so true. My recent scenario comes down to empowerment and apathy. If I don't feel empowered to navigate challenges, I default to apathy. Apathy is not helpful to the business or myself. And when I recognize that I am feeling apathetic, I need to understand the roots of that apathy and course correct to fulfill my need to live a life on purpose. And thank you for the kind words, I will miss next week as well, but expect my travels to scale back after next week. I look forward to the continued work and inspiration!
Live Session
Hello All. First, thank you for your encouraging words to get me through the week. No matter the leadership role you are in, showing up emotionally drained is challenging. But having a safe space to release those emotions brings comfort. Last night's live helped me navigate where I am now and also provided tips on how to release and ground myself. Watching the video on a consistent basis will defiantly remind me how to navigate this and to also see the signs of how not to be in this same space in my next season.

Sometimes, our greatest growth happens as we move through challenging situations that ultimately prepare us for the next chapter. Your resilience and loyalty were deeply evident. There is peace in knowing we made a genuine effort within reason, and when things still do not align, it provides both the confidence to move forward and the assurance that we gave enough. I’m glad the session brought you greater clarity.
Question
I’d like to start by expressing my appreciation for the opportunity to be part of this cohort. It’s energizing to engage with others who are intentionally working to bring their best selves to the challenges we each face in our unique contexts. I’m looking forward to learning more about each of you and gaining insight through your experiences, and I hope to contribute value by sharing my own along the way. I’ve been sitting with the questions from our last session and reflecting on how they show up in my day to day, specifically how intention translates into action, and ultimately into outcomes. The idea that consistency + discipline = productivity is marinating with me. That leads me to a question for the group: Is this forum a space we can use between sessions to seek insight as we navigate real-time leadership challenges? A place to test our thinking, share dilemmas, and gain perspectives we might not see from within our own experiences? It seems like if we’re all working toward consistent, disciplined growth, there may be real value in using this space to sharpen our thinking together as we apply these ideas in our daily work.
Live Labs Starting Next Week!
We’re excited to kick off our Live Lab next Thursday, April 9th, at 6:00 PM. This is where the real work happens, bringing your challenges, testing ideas, and applying what you’re learning in real time. Come ready to engage. See you there!

Learner first, leader second. I grow by helping others succeed, finding small daily moments where curiosity and intention create ripple effects.
