What Stops You From Writing When You REALLY Want to Write?
It's the curse of every writer - PROCRASTINATION. We finally have the time to write, and we end up doing "research", putting that load in the washer, emptying the trash or texting a friend. Why do we do this? I'm not sure - but if you have an answer I'd love to know. Here's how I help myself and the clients I work with when they feel like spinning in their chair instead of writing. 1) Do not give up the writing time. Grab a journal and write by hand. 2) Put on the noise cancelling headphones and some lo-fi music and just have a few minutes between you and yourself - quite your brain. 3) The laundry, dishes, trash will be there when you're done - waiting. So let them wait. 4) Make an appointment with yourself. Put your writing time on your calendar, mark yourself as out of office, busy - whatever it is, and keep your appointment. 5) Research for your book is okay, as long as that's what you're doing. I suggest making that a time other than your writing time. What are your suggestions? I love to hear how other writers overcome Writer's Procrastination.

@Michael Jones Hi Michael, sorry for interrupting. Assuming I was asked to discuss this a few months ago, procrastination would have been my point. But then I realised something that saved me from it and its danger, and that's "Division of Labour"
THREE things a Writer Needs to KNOW
Writers (at all levels of experience) suffer from trust issues. TRUST in ourselves and the writing process. Trust that your story matters. Trust that you will finish it. Trust in the process of writing. I am reminding you that: You are not behind. Your story matters. It's okay to start messy. What's something you NEED to be reminded of as a writer?
