What's a Real Writer?
This is something that is different to everyone - but for most new writers it's a stumbling block. They don't see themselves as real writers. They put misconceived ideas on themselves, they are too critical of their writing and then comes WRITER'S BLOCK. Real writers aren't like what you see on TV or in movies. They don't sit down at the computer and write a book in one sitting. Books aren't sent to a publisher two days before Christmas Eve and then magically on shelves the next day (only in Hallmark). Real writers are people like you and me who WRITE. Tell me what you thought a real writer was like to you, before you became one.
What's a Real Writer?
INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone, My name is Mary, and I’m an independent book editor. I work closely with authors who want their manuscripts to feel polished, professional, and truly ready for readers not just “edited,” but refined with care. I genuinely love working with authors especially those who are passionate about their stories but want a professional eye to help bring everything together. If you’re working on a manuscript and need thoughtful, honest feedback, I’d be happy to connect. Looking forward to being part of this community.

Hey there. I've not been managing my Skool community for about a month. I'll be back to it soon. Be patient.
The Writer’s Blueprint
Hi everyone! I’m a versatile female vocalist looking to collaborate with songwriters and lyricists. If you have lyrics, demos, or unfinished songs that need expressive female vocals, I’d love to help bring them to life. I record remotely and provide high-quality vocal stems.

Song writing has always been one of my things I want to do. I worked once with a group in a song writing class. They picked my lyrics, and the singer just got up and sang to their own tune, what the felt. It was amazing.
PLOTTER, PANSTER or IN-BETWEEN?
If you're new to writing the words plotter, pantster or in-between are going to sound like a foreign language to you. To experienced writers, it's a way of life and a huge debate. Let me explain: ▶A plotter is someone who take the time to carefully plot out their book idea. Some plotters cover their walls with post-it notes, charts, and maps. Some will spend a small amount of time others will spend years. ▶A panster is someone who gets the idea, knows their genre and audience and just goes with it. ▶In-between (me) is a mix of both. I'm not going to say their is a RIGHT or wrong way, but in my professional opinion (and I want to hear your thoughts) here's what I think: ✳Plotting is great - unless it keeps you rigid and stops you from starting your book. Its a great method for someone who needs details and a path that is clear. ✳Panster works too, it allows the creativity to flow, but if you don't know your genre or your audience this process can be time-consuming and you may have a lot to fix. ✳In-Between (my style) gives you the plot and path, but in a way that allows you to make changes as you they pop up in your writing. It also gives you an idea of the beginning, middle and end - while allowing you to write by the seat or your pants. It's like a road map but the side trips aren't planned yet. What's your style and why? New to writing? Which on intrigues you?

What Are You Working On
Hey there writing community. I'd love to know what it is you're working on right now. I know a lot of us are shy. 😊 Keep it simple...tell us in 5 emojis. I'll go first: 🔎🕯🔑🧙🏼‍♀️🌪 Translation: A middle-grade mystery (magnify) set during 1977 on an island in Maine (lighthouse) my characters are trying to find the key to stop the witches curse on the island. I wish there were better emojis. Don't want to use emojis -use a GIF or just tell us a sentence like I did. I want to cheer you on!

@Shaun Carter that’s awesome. Writer’s tend to work on more than one project at a time. We have to go with the flow.
