@Dave Denniston I have definitely misfired and found myself into a bad hiring situation. However, maybe not like you think. In my experience, I have had good people almost every time I hired someone. The problem was with me. I had hired someone for a role I needed to fill and had unrealistic expectations on their ability to fill that need. Even with clear SOPs and video training, it was a poor hiring not based on the person but the fit to the need. The impact to me was I was pulled away from my core land business tasks and spending too much time on people management. And another impact was an unfulfilled member of the team.

I have only had the scenario with an international hire. I would say I am probably a little smarter about recognizing what strengths and skills I need for a role as well as having more realistic expectations on my part.

Hi everyone! I am Steve located in northern Colorado. I have been land investing since 2020. I have a tech career by day and focus on land nights and weekends. I have a small support team to help me during the day, specifically with things like phone calls. Every year I try to get a little bit better at my land business.
