I love these posts. Turns me on to great stuff I would not have heard otherwise! Thx for asking us, @Rob Mayzes . Here's my contribution. This is my first-ever solo release (after decades of toiling in various bands). It's a tropical-chill, reggae-ish version of a 1970's Leo Kottke folk ballad (which happened to be one of the first songs I ever learned to play on the guitar). I'm doing all of the instruments and voices on this track, as well as produced/mixed/mastered, with some help along the way from my wonderful Mastering.com mentors. Hope you enjoy it. Cheers! Guitar meets Moog
In the Spring of 1978,I bought a Gibson RD Artist. The unique thing about it is at the time a company named Norlin owned both Gibson and Moog so they had Moog do some advanced electronics to include active EQ, compressor, expander and preamp circuitry. We are approaching 50 years together. I liked to experiment with electronics going way back and hacked on this one to add additional phase options and other unnecessary features. Through all the hacking and the natural aging process, the poor thing doesn’t play consistently due to end-of-life of the capacitors. Anyway I dove in today and have compiled a parts list on Digikey and will be restoring the electronics over the next few weeks. Here’s some before photos! Wish me luck!

Very cool. I almost bought one of those RD Artists back in the day; kinda wish I had now. (I did however buy another Norlin product, a Lab Series L9 amp, which featured very cool Moog-designed circuitry. Still have it today and it still sounds great. If you look closely at my profile pic, it's there in the backline.) Peter Bramall (Bram Tchaikovsky) was one of the few folks I saw playing an RD, around '79. Such a cool guitar, IMHO. Enjoy it!
Tip: How to set up BlackHole to easily import reference tracks into Logic Pro from any audio app
Hi Gang, I had posted this tip about a year ago in the older community platform; thought I'd re-post here in the new one so it's not lost. (And as I clearly state in the doc, ** under no circumstances should this or any other app be used to bypass digital protection schemes for monetary purposes, or to avoid paying music creators and distributors their fair share! Besides being illegal, it’s bad karma. ** ) -------- As part of my MP 101 coursework, I was looking for reference tracks for "Panic". I found some good suggestions here in the community, but when I went to import them from Apple Music into Logic Pro, I ran into a stumbling block: the files are protected (m4p) and thus can't be easily imported. Long story short, I figured out how to use the free BlackHole "virtual wire" app to work around this limitation. Now I can easily find and import reference tracks without wasting nearly as much valuable time. :) I put together this cheat sheet which documents how to do it. I hope you find it useful! Cheers, Steve

Happy holidays Nick!
‘‘Tis the season

Anyone remember the original Christmas song that @Jake Kodweis used in a Fix-the-Mix session a couple of years ago? “A Little Bit of Christmas” was funny, clever, and (naturally) extremely well-produced. Jake posted a link for the finished mix by popular demand, but I can no longer find it. Anyone still have this little holiday gem to share? @Caleb Loveless? @Dane Holmes? @Nick Allegro? Cheers, all! Happy Holidays!

@Dane Holmes That'd be awesome. I'd pay to have this one back in my holiday collection :)
