The Mindset Shift That Changed Everything
For those who’ve been on this path for a while: what’s one mindset shift that fundamentally changed the way you approach your land, your garden, or your larger resilience goals? Sometimes the internal shifts reshape the external ones far more than any tool or technique

Definitely understanding how weak and crumbling the current system is. Hard to build on a weak foundation. Then, the next step is to move away from that system into a more resilient system. Every decision is either moving toward or away from resilience.

🌿 What Have You Unlearned Since Starting This Journey?
Permaculture isn’t just about learning new techniques. Its also about unlearning the mindset we were raised with. The industrial world teaches us to: - Prioritize speed over care - Chase efficiency over balance - Rely on systems instead of ourselves - Treat land as a resource instead of a living partner When you step into homesteading and permaculture, those patterns start to crack. And suddenly you realize: ❌ More is not always better ❌ Perfection is a trap ❌ Nature doesn’t move on deadlines ❌ Slowing down isn’t lazy—it’s wise ❌ Productivity ≠ value Personally, I had to unlearn the idea that “work” only counts if it’s busy, loud, or monetized. Now, when I sit with my animals, walk the land, or just observe a system doing its thing without my interference—I see that as success, not wasted time. So I want to ask you: - What’s something you’ve had to unlearn on this path? - Was it hard to let go of? - What changed for you after you did? Drop your answer below 👇Let’s give each other permission to release what no longer serves us.

Land Development
We are getting ready to plant 100 onions! We are also going to plant potatoes in this area. There are some fruit trees established in this area, but the pine tree roots were horrible. Tomorrow... we begin the ground breaking in the third picture for the corn, pumpkin, and green beans. We purchased a paw paw tree to plant in this area also.

Hello From Montana
Hello, 👋🏾 thanks for welcoming into the group. AI am a healer and urban farmer in Billings Montana. I have a small Regenerative Farm on a city plot with over 200 edible and medicinal varieties. In spring, the plan is to convert the pool in to an underground greenhouse. We have chickens and rabbits as livestock. Trying to create a blueprint others can follow to have edible landscaping and food/medicinal security. Look forward to engaging with others.

What a cool set up! Love this. If the burbs lived like this, the world would be such a better place
