Thoughts on travelling in style
How are your thoughts on vacations and travelling, regarding mood, style and destinations? Me and the wife had a hard time with vacation planning this year, she and our daughter would have liked a trip to the sun (Mediterranean Sea), our teenage son didn't really care either way and myself I wanted to relax and read. It turned out good in the end, but I've put lots of thought into thinking about travel and how I want to spend free time. I think that elevating my style over a few years has changed some perceptions about travelling. I really don't want to stand in lines, wrestle sweating crowds and hang out in busy tourist areas with croc-wearing people anymore. My wife thinks I've developed a bit of snobbery and perhaps it is. But I really can't stand that way of vacationing anymore, and I keep thinking of travelling like it's the 1920's (for a wealthy man, that is): wearing a good suit, carrying a high quality suitcase, travelling by train into old train stations, drinking coffee in nice cafés and reading newspapers, perhaps ending up at a quiet oceanside hotel somewhere, taking strolls along beach pathways. I've travelled a lot by train in Europe, and I will most certainly do more of that. Does anyone else dream of nostalgic or imaginary ways of travelling or vacationing more like classic gentleman? Do you travel in that way? Ideas, suggestions?
